WILL’S CINEMATIC HALL OF FAME
Super Fuzz (1980)
Directed by Sergio Corbucci - who did the excellent spaghetti western Django, and, apparently, a lot of really bad movies too - Super Fuzz is an unbelievably awful superhero comedy about a radioactive police officer (Terence Hill) who gains superpowers, but is rendered powerless whenever he sees the colour red. Which doesn’t make much sense at all, if you know anything about the colour spectrum. Ernest Borgnine plays his partner/befuddled reaction shot-provider. I saw this on a battered 35mm print at Innis College at U of T a few years ago, and it was one of my favourite moviegoing experiences.
This trailer is not only way better than the movie, but also probably plays better if you don’t know anything about the plot.
Eli Roth is a fan, incidentally.
